PhD Project

Places and Practices of Innovation in Nairobi

Interested in Science and Technology Studies, postcolonial and ethnographic approaches focusing on global ‘North-South’ relations, Alev looks at places and practices of innovation in Nairobi. Specifically, she is interested in the socio-material practices of prototyping, making and innovating in the context of tremendous investment in technological development by private firms and development organizations. Therefore, she highlights the techno-politics in engineering and hardware projects, the specific material arrangements in makerspaces as well as the political dimension of prototyping.
